The Science behind the Supernatural: Incorporating Paranormal Elements into your Mystery/Thriller
Many books require a suspension of disbelief, especially when they involve the paranormal. But readers of mysteries and thrillers expect a certain level of consistency and foreshadowing in order for a plot twist to be palatable. Without this, a twist feels cheap, and the reader is left unsatisfied. This is true not just for the whodunit portion of a book, but also for any supernatural elements, regardless of how critical these elements are to the story. This session will cover how to build the “science” of your own paranormal world, so that the setting and its “magic” is presented in a way that is not only compelling, but believable, consistent, and logical. The presenter will combine elements of worldbuilding and mystery plotting and discuss how to create realistic twists in a fantastical setting.
Congratulations!
Thank you!
