“Job Burnout” short story to be published in Black Hare Press anthology

Angels: Dark Drabbles Anthology

Written by Helen Power

Helen Power is obsessed with ghosts. She spends her free time watching paranormal investigation TV shows, going on ghost walks, and telling anyone who’ll listen about her paranormal experiences. She is also an academic librarian living in Saskatoon, Canada and has several short story publications, including ones in Suspense Magazine and Dark Helix Press’s Canada 150 anthology, Futuristic Canada. The Ghosts of Thorwald Place is her first novel.

My ultra-short story “Job Burnout” will be in Black Hare Press’s Angels: A Divine Microfiction Anthology.  This is the second anthology in their “Dark Drabbles” series, where each microfiction is exactly 100 words.

Book blurb:

Beatific angels, holy wars, kitty saviours, epic battles between good and evil, devils and demons, fallen angels and many more tantalising tiny tales.

What miracles can one hundred debut to bestselling authors do with 100 words?

More than three hundred 100-word drabbles from around the world.

“Job Burnout” features an angel who has grown weary of his calling.  I can’t say much more about my story without spoiling it!  Writing a story that is exactly 100 words was fun and challenging… 100 words is not nearly enough to say everything I wanted to say, but this was a perfect exercise in being concise and to the point.

The anthology will be released on July 23, 2019.  You can pre-order your copy on Amazon now.  Black Hare Press is an independent publisher based in Melbourne Australia, and you can visit their website if you’re curious to learn more.
